Recovery phrase
Forgot your code? Twelve words bring it back.
Accounts and email resets create a way in for other people. VaultBolt gives you a 12-word recovery phrase instead. Write it down once, keep it away from your phone, and you can always get back in.
How it works
Recovery phrase, step by step.
Write down 12 words
Shown once at setup, using the standard BIP-39 word list with a checksum.
Confirm three of them
A quick check makes sure you wrote them down correctly.
Use it when needed
Forgot your unlock, or set up a new iPhone? Enter the phrase and set a new unlock.
No account needed
There is no email reset and no support override. Only the phrase can recover the vault.
Periodic reminders
VaultBolt occasionally asks you to check your phrase so you notice a lost note before you need it.
One phrase per vault
Each vault has its own phrase; one never reveals another.
Honest limits
- Anyone who gets your phrase may be able to restore your vault. Keep it offline and private.
- Lose both your unlock and your phrase, and the vault cannot be recovered by anyone.
