Why vaults copy
iOS doesn't let any app silently remove photos from your library. A vault can read a photo and ask you to delete the original, and that request needs your confirmation. Many apps simply skip that step.
Where copies survive
- The camera roll, if the original isn't deleted.
- Recently Deleted, for up to 30 days after it is.
- iCloud Photos, on every device on your Apple Account.
- Other apps that saved or backed up the photo.
What VaultBolt does
After items are encrypted and verified, VaultBolt walks you through deleting the originals, emptying Recently Deleted and checking iCloud Photos. Only then does it show the confirmation: 0 copies left. A checklist in Settings lets you run it again later, and reminds you about the places it can't reach, like chat apps and other clouds.
It's a small flow. It's also the difference between hiding a photo and actually protecting it.
