What your passcode opens
- Photos, including Hidden and Recently Deleted.
- Any app locked with Require Face ID (the passcode is the fallback).
- Your Keychain passwords and settings.
A private space that stays private
- Use a vault with its own code, and never type it where it can be seen.
- Move, don't copy. Delete the originals and empty Recently Deleted, or they are still in Photos.
- Check iCloud. If you share an Apple Account or iCloud Photos library, deletions sync.
- Keep notifications neutral. VaultBolt notifications say things like "Backup complete".
If you might be asked to open it
A decoy vault opens with a different code and shows ordinary photos. VaultBolt never displays a list of vaults, so nothing suggests there is another one.
Your safety comes first
If you're worried about control or abuse, a vault is only one small part of staying safe. Contact a local support service, and use a device the other person can't access to plan.
Frequently asked questions
Will my partner know I have a vault app?
They may see the app. VaultBolt's neutral icon, plain notifications and planned stealth mode make it look ordinary, and the app never shows how many vaults exist.
What if I'm in an unsafe relationship?
If you are afraid of your partner, reach out to a local domestic abuse service. Phones can be monitored in ways a vault can't detect, so plan with someone you trust and use a device they can't access.
