I have screenshots of passwords in my camera roll

Wi-Fi codes, two-factor backup codes, bank details, crypto seed phrases. Screenshots are convenient, and they sync to every device on your account. Here's how to clean them up.

Short answerSearch Photos for words like password, code and PIN (Photos reads text in images), move anything sensitive into a password manager or encrypted vault, delete the originals and empty Recently Deleted. Never store a crypto seed phrase as a screenshot.

Find them

In Photos, search for password, code, PIN, recovery, IBAN or seed. Photos recognises text in images. Or let VaultBolt's scan group them.

Decide where each belongs

  • Logins and Wi-Fi: a password manager.
  • Backup codes, bank details, documents: an encrypted vault.
  • Crypto seed phrases: on paper, offline. Never as a photo.

Clean up

Delete the originals, empty Recently Deleted, and check other devices if iCloud Photos is on.

Frequently asked questions

Can VaultBolt find password screenshots?

Yes. The on-device scan groups screenshots that look like passwords or private messages.

Where should I keep passwords?

In a password manager, such as Apple Passwords. Use a vault for screenshots and documents you need to keep as images.
